Dean - Academics

Dr. Atul Kumar completed M.Sc. in “Engineering Physics” from IIT Roorkee in 1991 and his Ph. D on “Optical Solitons and its Applications” from IIT Delhi, in 1998. Soon after Ph. D, Dr. Atul Kumar was invited to work as a PDF (June 1998 “ December 1999) for 18 months in “Light Wave Technology Laboratory” at (KAIST), South Korea. At KAIT, he worked on various aspects of DWDM based long haul optical communication systems. During January 2000 - March 2003, Dr. Atul Kumar worked as Group Leader (R&D) at Renka Inc. (A US based and VC funded company) and was responsible for the design, development and manufacturing of optical fiber based passive and active components.In April 2003 he won the Japanese Government Research Fellowship (Monbugaku-sho) to work for 2 years in “Optics Devices Laboratory” at RCAST, University of Tokyo, Japan. During 2007 - 2017, Dr. Atul Kumar worked at Ansal University, Gurgaon as Dean (Admissions), Dean – Students Welfare and Dean – Engineering.During June - August 2009, Dr. Kumar visited NCSU, USA to work on thin film Nanostructure. In April 2017 Dr. Atul Kumar joined Mody University as Dean – School of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Dr. Kumar has more than 19+ years (post Ph.D.) of PDF, Industrial R&D, University teaching and academic administration experience and has published more than 20 research papers in International and national Journals and conferences. His current research interest includes Non-linear fibre optics, Fibre Laser and Nanophotonics. Presently Dr. Kumar is guiding 4 Ph. D students. He is a member of OSA, ISTE and Optical Society of India.
